Naomi Kavka/Corbin Spensley/Distance Critique
is a songwriter, singer and multi instrumentalist from Northern British Columbia who weaves spirits of 70s Canadiana into her sparse yet dense songscraft. Her skills were honed as a classical cellist, but her songs and performances come from a raw untamed place that perfectly melds her disciclpine with an unhinged viscera. She is touring to promote her new album “Slammed Doors & Severance”. She is touring with longtime collaborater Corbin Spensley, a fellow Northern British Colombia performer and songwriter.
Joining them is local punk band Distance Critique!
“More than just a shining songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Kavka is an ingenious rara avis. Her noir-country nods and neo-traditional folk flourishes find her, at times, under the pink moon of Nick Drake or on the soul journey of Gillian Welch, but she stands her ground fiercely, sweet-sounding seafarer that she is.”
